Take a tour around “Olde Towne” and enjoy traditional afternoon tea :
TORONTO – June 18, 2003 – On Wednesday, June 18th, 2003 Le Royal Meridien King Edward hotel invited special guests and media personalities to a journey through ‘Olde Towne’ Toronto with traditional Royal Afternoon Tea in partnership with Gray Line Tours and Toronto Transit Commission.
Our Olde Towne tea and tram tours will begin its journey through time commencing this summer from July 6th, 2003 and will depart from the King Edward hotel at 37 King Street East at 1 p.m. every Sunday until September 7th, 2003. Guests will board the TTC’s 1938 President’s Conference Committee tram (PCC tram) that will take them on a historic tour of the “Olde Towne”, Don Jail, Old City Hall, Osgoode Hall, Fort York, the Exhibition grounds, the Distillery Historic District, the Flatiron Building and numerous celebrated buildings along the waterfront. The tram will then return to the “King Eddy” for traditional afternoon tea. This is a unique tour that cannot be missed if guests wish to enjoy the City of Toronto’s architecture and beautiful historic sites as well as a relaxing but elegant afternoon tea experience. This tour will be marketed to visitors to Toronto each summer through Gray Line Toronto.

Experience Toronto as you would in the 1930’s. Journey through ‘Olde Towne’ followed by traditional English afternoon tea at the “King Eddy”.
This specially organized tour commemorates and celebrates the 100th Anniversary of this ‘Grand Dame’ King Edward hotel by taking its guests back in time to recreate history and capture the nostalgia of the 1930’s when a leisurely afternoon tea was customary.

Our partnership with Gray Line tours dates back to the late 1920’s. Gray Line first began in March 1910 with sightseeing tours around Washington, D.C. By 1926, Gray Line had expanded to other booming cities including New York, Chicago, Detroit, New Orleans, Los Angeles, San Francisco, as well as internationally to Toronto and Havana. At that time it was typical for visitors to board a Gray Line bus for tours around the city and return to the hotel to enjoy afternoon tea.
